DISCOVER TALL MEN BOOKS
Our Mission
Tall Men Books is a small publisher dedicated to vintage history books. We republish and compile selected public domain works: especially American history and books related to the Civil War and Reconstruction.

Our inspiration is the best illustration of our mission:

I was not there,
At Talladega, Horseshoe Bend, King's Mountain,
Not at Suwannee, Mobile, or Pensacola,
In days when men were tall. I have not eaten
Acorns to still my hunger or followed the war-path
After a fiery leader, tough as the hickory... I have read a book. I have loitered by graves. I have trod old floors...

Shall I say the praise of men, bright honor,
The songs of my own race and the ways of fighters
Are something read in a book only, or graven
Only in stone and not in the hearts of men?

OUR AUTHORS
Our authors are all historians or eyewitnesses of a former age when telling constructive stories of American history was the norm in the academy. Our mission is to make these writers accessible for a new generation and to make these valuable classics accessible to the modern student and reader. Our catalog is focused on topical and regional American history, memoirs of the Civil War, the era of Reconstruction, gunfighters and outlaws of the Old West, and other enticing topics. Our authors include Walter L. Fleming, the dean of the study of Reconstruction, Harry E. Barnes, the revisionist of the Great War of 1914, and Charles F. Adams, Jr, the historian of the Gilded Age.
